Walk Backwards. Help a Child Move Forward.
Every few weeks, somewhere in India, a parent waits anxiously for blood.
Not for an emergency, not for a surgery. But because their child cannot survive without it.
This is the reality of Thalassemia, a preventable genetic blood disorder that forces thousands of children to depend on lifelong blood transfusions every 15–20 days just to stay alive. Imagine planning your child’s life around hospital visits, blood availability, needles, and uncertainty.
Now imagine knowing it could have been prevented.
What Is Back-A-Thon?
Back-A-Thon is a movement built on one powerful idea:
If we can take one step back today through awareness and prevention, we can prevent a lifetime of suffering tomorrow.
On June 14, 2026, hundreds of people in Hyderabad will walk backwards together—not for attention, but for awareness.
To start conversations.
To mobilise blood donors.
To ensure more families never have to hear the words:
“Your child has Thalassemia.”
Organised by Blood Warriors Foundation, Back-A-Thon 2026 is bringing together communities, volunteers, doctors, blood donors, students, corporates, and citizens to stand together for one cause:
A future where no child suffers from a preventable disorder.
Why This Matters
- Every 30 minutes, a child is born in India with Thalassemia.
- Children with Thalassemia need blood transfusions every few weeks for survival.
- Many families discover they are carriers only after their child is born.
- With timely awareness and screening, this suffering can be prevented.
But awareness still hasn’t reached enough people.
That is why this movement matters.
This Year, We’re Also Standing Up for Blood Donors
While prevention is the future, thousands of children living with Thalassemia today still depend on blood donors every few weeks.
For them, blood donation is not charity, it is survival.
Back-A-Thon 2026 is also a tribute to every donor who quietly helps someone live another month, attend school again, smile again, and keep going.
What Your Contribution Will Do
Your support is not funding “just an event.”
You are helping build:
- Awareness campaigns that reach thousands
- Free and affordable screening initiatives
- Genetic counselling support for families
- Blood donor mobilisation efforts
- Community action around prevention
- Support systems for children already fighting Thalassemia
Every donation helps us take this conversation further.
Every contribution helps us reach one more family before it’s too late.
Why We Need You
Movements are not built by organisations alone.
They are built by people who choose to care.
Whether you donate ₹500 or ₹50,000, your support becomes part of something much bigger:
- A conversation that can prevent suffering
- A donor movement that can sustain lives
- A future where awareness reaches people in time
On June 14, We Walk Backwards for a Reason
